CERTIFIED

AHAM and Asthma & Allergy Friendly

The Rainbow Cleaning System, you won’t only find what you need; you’ll get the best quality at a fair price. With years of experience in the industry, we have the expertise to thoroughly and efficiently serve our customers to ensure they’re never disappointed.

Whether you’re a one-time buyer or looking to buy in bulk, you can count on us to provide great product and excellent service, every step of the way.

The Rainbow Certifications

Independent laboratory tests prove the Rainbow Cleaning System beats the competition in filtration efficiency. By combining its water-based/separator technology that traps 99.997% (by weight) of typical household dirt, a "brushless motor" and a HEPA Neutralizer, the Rainbow achieves what other products cannot.

AHAM Certification

AHAM Verification Programs have been an important part of AHAM services since the Association’s inception. Verified appliances carry an AHAM Mark on the unit or its packaging. This Mark assures consumers, retailers and other interested parties that a product may be selected at any time for verification testing, and that the product’s energy consumption rating is consistent with the energy consumption measured against standard test methods. The Programs provide a uniform and commercially practical verification of certain performance criteria for each product. An independent laboratory under contract to AHAM performs the verification testing based on a specified test procedure.

The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) certifies that the Rainbow is a proven air cleaner designed to reduce air pollutants that contribute to poor indoor air quality.

Important information on selecting an air cleaner:

The AHAM seal (usually found on the back or the side of an air cleaner’s box) will list three clean air delivery rate (CADR) numbers – one for tobacco smoke, one for pollen and one for dust. The CADR indicates volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner. The higher the tobacco smoke, pollen and dust numbers, the faster the unit filters the air.

Follow AHAM’s 2/3 Rule:

You’ll always want a unit with a tobacco smoke CADR at least 2/3 your room’s area. For example, a 10′ x 12′ room -120 square feet – would require an air cleaner with a tobacco smoke CADR of at least 80. If your room size is smaller, the unit will simply clean the air more often or faster. If you have ceilings higher than 8′, you’ll want an air cleaner rated for a larger room.

Rainbow:

The AHAM Verification Program for Portable Electric Room Air Cleaners

AHAM is an organization that verifies the testing results of home appliances such as room air conditioners, dehumidifiers and, of course, room air cleaners.

Since 1967, we've used outside labs to test products, and today you'll find AHAM verified ratings on a variety of appliances. This makes comparing products easier for you.

Rainbow voluntarily participated in the AHAM certification program for room air cleaners. This standardized measurement system known as the Clean Air Delivery Rate, or CADR - determines how well an air cleaner reduces pollutants such as tobacco smoke, dust and pollen.

The AHAM Certification Program for Portable Electric Room Air Cleaners

The Portable Electric Room Air Cleaner Certification Program provides assurance to the public, through presence of the AHAM Verification Seal, that manufacturers' claimed ratings of Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) have been independently verified in accordance with ANSI/AHAM Standard AC-1, "Method for Measuring Performance of Portable Household Electric Room Air Cleaners.

Under the terms of the Program, manufacturers certify the CADR of a portable electric room air cleaner.  An independent laboratory verifies the performance of random samples taken from factory, warehouse and dealer showrooms.

Participation in the Program is voluntary and is open to all manufacturers and firms who market private brand models. As program sponsor and verifying authority, AHAM retains a laboratory (Intertek) to administer testing of sample units and to verify manufacturers' claimed ratings.

Program Scope

ANSI/AHAM Standard AC-1 applies to portable electric room air cleaners that remove particulate matter from the air and that have CADR ratings within the ranges noted below:

Tobacco Smoke 10 to 450 CADR

Dust 10 to 400 CADR

Pollen 25 to 450 CADR

Room Size Calculation

Room size is calculated using the following formula:

Room Square Feet = Smoke CADR value x 1.55 (or Room Square Meters = Smoke CADR value x 0.144)

This formula is based on the CADR requirement to remove 80% of smoke particles, assuming one room air exchange per hour. Further information on this calculation can be obtained from AHAM.

 Verification Mark

The AHAM Portable Electric Room Air Cleaner Certification Mark is issued by AHAM to all manufacturers and private brand sellers of portable electric room air cleaners who are Licensees in the Program. Under terms of the Program, the manufacturer certifies that the CADR of all portable electric room air cleaners bearing this Mark are determined and accurately stated in accordance with the requirements of ANSI/AHAM Standard AC-1. The Verification Mark is required on all packaging of certified portable electric room air cleaners. Additionally, Program terms require that manufacturers display only CADR values for tobacco smoke, dust and pollen within the verification Mark. The Mark cannot imply verification of any other feature or performance factor.

Directory

AHAM's Directory of Certified Portable Electric Room Air Cleaners lists current program models for each participating Licensee in the Program. The directory may include room air cleaner models that were produced during a previous directory period, but which have no scheduled production during the current period.

Our Goals

 Community: Grow the AAFA community
Programs and Policy: Dramatically reduce the impact of asthma and allergies

Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) Guiding Principles for Patient-Centered Public Policy Background and Introduction The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) promotes public policy initiatives that improve and protect quality of life and treatment options for those affected by asthma and allergies. AAFA’s major public policy priorities are: • to promote access to affordable, quality healthcare for the treatment and management of asthma and allergies for all people; • to maximize funding for basic, clinical, preventive, and health services research; and • to promote prevention, screening, and lifestyle interventions that reduce the incidence and adverse effects of asthma and allergies. Guiding Principles AAFA has developed a set of patient-centered principles to guide policy and advocacy efforts on behalf of the asthma and allergy communities. These principles reflect AAFA’s deep commitment to evidence-based decision-making—whether that is a decision to be made by the patient, her clinician, her family, or by a policymaker. In a setting in which there is a risk that policy decisions will be driven by emotion and anecdote, AAFA seeks reliable and data-driven research to inform the evidence base and help determine the safety and value of treatments and interventions. Dealing with these complex and inter-related issues requires a steady stream of reliable data and information to develop sound policy positions. Our principles are enumerated below: 1. Promote access and availability to safe, useful and affordable treatments Access to safe, useful and affordable treatments continues to be a pressing concern for patients in the United States. AAFA supports and advocates for patient access to affordable, quality health care, and for the elimination of barriers to optimal clinical care in the United States. 2. Improve patient outcomes by aligning medical practice and clinical decision-making with the best available evidence, through the use of evidence-based guidelines where available, and through continuous learning about and diffusion of best practices Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment of asthma and allergic conditions are the lynchpin that supports efforts to achieve best outcomes for patients. When rigorous guidelines are not available, it is important to align with published evidence or, where necessary, best practices in the field. 2 At the same time, it is necessary to commit to collecting the data that will inform clinical practice, going forward. Decisions about effective clinical practice should be driven primarily by what is best for patients; not by financial and economic considerations. 3. Support patient participation and sound decision-making Patients are critical members of the healthcare team, and they must be given both the opportunity— and the information they need—to work effectively as partners to clinical professionals, in order to achieve the outcomes that are most important to them. Solving the challenges and problems of living with allergies and asthma requires active engagement of patients, families, and caregivers, in treatment decisions, research, and clinical trials.

If You Can Measure It, You Can Improve It

CRI’s Seal of Approval (SOA) program is all about cleaning efficacy and constant improvement. We wanted to know how well vacuums, extractors, and cleaning solutions worked to clean carpet, so we developed the carpet industry’s only scientific program to test and measure the effectiveness of cleaning products and equipment. The program helps consumers make informed decisions and manufacturers improve their products. The results are cleaner, healthier, and longer-lasting carpet.

What is Being Tested?

There are seven performance attributes SOA products are evaluated on:

  1. Soil Removal Efficacy: How effective is the product at removing soil?

  2. Resoiling: Does the cleaned sample attract soil at an accelerated rate or not? (solutions and systems)

  3. Residual Moisture: Does the extractor or cleaning system remove most of the moisture that results from a wet cleaning process?

  4. Surface Appearance Change: Does the product leave the carpet minimally changed after multiple cleanings? (vacuums and extractors)

  5. Colorfastness: Does the product cause a color change in the carpet fiber? (solutions and systems)

  6. pH Level: Is the pH level between 4 and 10? (solutions and systems)

  7. Optical Brighteners: Does the product contain optical brighteners? None are allowed for SOA certification. (solutions and systems)

A Little Help from NASA

In making SOA the most advanced testing program possible, CRI partnered with scientists at NASA. To develop the soil compound used in the testing, hundreds of real-world samples from all over the United States were analyzed. Then, the elements that made up or closely resembled those samples were blended together to create an accurate, measurable, and repeatable formula.

Industry-Wide Benefits

The positive effects of the SOA program can be seen at every level of the carpet industry.

Consumers: SOA helps consumers make better purchasing decisions by ensuring that the products they choose will work. Consumers get a healthier environment in which to live and work – and a maximum return on their carpet investment.

Carpet Cleaning Product Manufacturers: By using the test results to see product strengths and weaknesses, manufacturers get a better idea of what they need to improve. That leads to more effective products going to market. For their efforts, the manufacturers gain the added credibility of the Seal of Approval label on their products.

Carpet Cleaning Professionals: Seal of Approval products helps cleaning professionals gain SOA certification. The certification differentiates them against the competition. It also helps them do their jobs better, which means more satisfied customers, more repeat business, and better word of mouth for their business.
